The talented Dominique Ilie is back with new music, as the dual threat has released his soulful new tune “Sunflower.”

Celeb Secrets: Thanks so much for talking with us! What are you most excited for fans to take away from this new single “Sunflower”?
Dominique Ilie: “I just hope my song will transport my listeners into a fantasy world where they can dream with me. This song is just a vibe. It’s the type of song that makes you lose track of space and time.”
CS: You and your writing partner Jeanne Walker wrote “Sunflower.” What was the inspiration behind the new song?
DI: “I started writing this song one night in my room. I work well when I am alone, and I let all my creative juices come out uninterrupted. Sunflower is about the girl in my dreams. You know, the perfect person we all hope to find one day. Jeanne is so great, she helped me finalize the song and articulate my ideas better.”
CS: How would you say this song is different from songs you have released in the past like “Colors” and “Sad?”
DI: “I think my songs are becoming more mature and more complex. ‘Colors’ was honestly the first song I wrote. If you listen to the lyrics, you can tell a 12-year-old kid wrote them. ‘Colors’ is how I saw the world, at least before covid started. ‘Sad’ is such a special song to me because I wrote it during the first month of Covid when everything was so uncertain. Sad is truly how I felt for many, many months after Covid started. Now, ‘Sunflower’ reflects my current thoughts and feelings. I choose to fantasize about the perfect girl, and I am sure one day I’ll find her.”
CS: Is there anybody you may be giving “Sunflowers” to this Valentine’s Day?
DI: “I wish there would be someone. I am very romantic and more of an old soul. So, for now, I’ll just sing about love.”
CS: You’ve worked as both an actor and musician. What to you is the biggest difference between the two professions? Is there one you enjoy more?
DI: “Yes, I had the opportunity to work as both an actor and musician. Music has always been my first love. Although I loved acting, I realized that I need time in order to perfect my music. Auditioning takes a lot of time, so I am now solely focused on becoming the best musician I can be.”
CS: Is “Sunflower” the teaser to much more music coming?
DI: “For sure, I have so much more music in the works. Some songs are in the writing process, some in production and others are waiting to be recorded. I don’t want to rush the process, for me the most important thing is for my music to be good. The more I stay in the studio the pickier I become. Every day I push myself to higher standards.”
CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets – do you have a secret about yourself and the song that we wouldn’t know?
DI: “I have a fun fact about this music video. The original script didn’t involve a girl, but the director decided at the last minute to add one. Luckily, I met Kerrington Briggs at an event just the weekend before, and I remembered she lives in Phoenix. I called Kerrington and she joined me on set one hour later. Sometimes these last-minute changes end up being the best ones. Having Kerrington in this music video was great.”
