Leon Mallett has become the third contestant to be eliminated from ‘The X Factor’ during the second week of Live Shows.
Judges Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and mentor Louis Walsh praised Leon’s performance of the hit track ‘Get Lucky’. The theme of the show in Week 2 was ‘Viva Latino,’ and Leon impressed with his vocals, putting his own unique spin on the popular track.
Initially, Leon had auditioned for the show with his brother. When the duo reached the Bootcamp stage of the competition, it was suggested that the brothers continued in the competition as solo artists. During the Six Chair Challenge, Leon managed to obtain a Chair. Unfortunately, his brother Alex didn’t progress past this stage.
At the Judges Houses stage of the competition, Leon sang ‘Dreams’. However, Louis said that he felt Leon wasn’t ready and had to send him home. The public wildcard vote, however, meant that Leon gained a place on the Live Shows, with him performing ‘Stay’ in the first week of Live Shows.
As a shock new twist on this year’s series, there is no deadlock, Judges’ decision, or sing-off. The public are in control of the contestants who make it through to the next Live Show.
On Saturday’s Live Shows, the Groups and Boys were up against one another. An additional twist to the show was that the most popular contestant as voted for by the public each weekend on each night of the Live Shows would compete in a sing-off to win a phenomenal prize. Rak-Su will be the first contestant to be competing in Sunday night’s sing-off.
Tokio Myers was a special guest on the show, performing his new single, also unveiling details regarding his album and tour.
‘The X Factor’ continues on ITV on Sunday 5 November at 7.05 pm.
