His roles include the films Grown Up Movie Star, How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town, Arrival (2016), Parallel, Anon, How It Ends (2018), The Front Runner, Bad Times at the El Royale, Goalie, Ready or Not, The Righteous, which he also directed and wrote, and Blue Bayou, and the shows Republic of Doyle, Halt and Catch Fire, The Last Tycoon, City on a Hill, 61st Street, and Perry Mason.

His father is a truck driver and his mother is a nurse. He is married to actress Georgina Reilly, with whom he has one child.
