Sam Free showcases young love and heartbreak in her brand-new single "Fell in Love at 15"

June 2024 · 3 minute read

We all know of young love and heartbreak, those first relationships really do affect us in a variety of ways, and Sam Free doesn’t hold back with her awesome brand-new single “Fell in Love at 15”. This follows up last year’s feature on Luke Garrity’s single “X’s & O’s” alongside Chance Perez. Her previous solo single was 2021’s “Lie So Good”.

Sam Free is an indie-pop singer-songwriter from Las Vegas, Nevada. She comes from a big musical family and so having a career in the music industry was totally in her nature, and she began to sing and write music at a young age. At the age of ten, her grandfather bought her her first guitar, going on to learn how to play, and she developed dreams of becoming a huge singer and performer. 2020 saw her be accepted into her dream school – Berklee School of Music – yet the COVID pandemic hit and the reality of attending the school became out of reach for her, so, instead, at the age of 18, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music career by collaborating with other artists and grafting to achieve her dreams. Clearly, it’s paying off with tens of thousands of Spotify streams to her name, with her sophomore single “Come Thru” being her most-streamed track on the streaming platform, with her debut single “WHY” just behind. With an epic voice like hers, an undeniable talent for music, and her superstar songwriting abilities, Sam Free will most certainly achieve her dreams.

Written by Sam Free and Slush Puppy, with it being produced by the latter, “Fell in Love at 15” is a soulful personified track with Sam Free’s vocals full of so much heart and passion, while the rhythmic groovy guitar chords bring a pop-rock ’00s vibe to the young love atmospheric track. Sam Free reminisces of the past and her first love and how her love interest was her entire world, the one, but it just wasn’t meant to be and all those happy memories are somewhat tarnished by the heartbreak. It’s something a lot of her listeners are going to easily relate to, and she floods the track with her soul and that it almost has therapeutic vibes for her as we hear her self-reflections in the lyrics, in her voice, and in the production. “Fell in Love at 15” is a brilliant showcase for Sam Free, encapsulating the ups and downs of young love and how it can still affect people years later.

Talking about the track, Sam Free said: “At some point, everyone has their first love followed by their first heartbreak, ‘Fell In Love at 15’ is a homage to this young love we all experience.”
