Those haters can hate hate hate all they want because Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ music video has hit five million likes on YouTube. Yes, that’s right, five million!
‘Shake It Off’ was her first single from her fifth studio album ‘1989,’ which was released in 2014, yet music lovers are evidently still going crazy for it! The song was widely successful, having received Grammy nominations and it is referred to as Swift’s ‘biggest Hot 100 hit’ by Billboard, after debuting at number one on the list.
The music video was directed by Mark Romanek and shows Taylor embracing her inner dorky dancer in a variety of settings. She does everything from twerking to ballet – now those are that is a combination which you would only see in a Taylor Swift music video!
Speaking about the video, in particular the twerking, the ‘Wildest Dreams’ hitmaker said: “It was so much fun. I woke up every day of that shoot and couldn’t wait to get to set. We had twerking, which was so funny. Those girls were trying to teach me how, and it’s just never gonna happen. I tried really hard. They were teaching me what they do, and there’s like a science to it – they’re like digging their heels into the floor without you seeing their legs move, but their butts’ moving. It’s mind-blowing to me. They were explaining it all to me, and it’s so above my comprehension of how to understand your body.”
Now, after over five million people have hit the thumbs up button on said music video, it has become one of few Taylor videos to do so. Although, her other music videos have hardly flopped, for example ‘Bad Blood’ has had 900+ million views and 4.4 million likes and ‘Blank Space has had 1.7+ billion views and 5.5 million likes – WOW.
As it stands at the moment, ‘Shake It Off’ has had over 1.5 billion views! Congratulations Miss Swift!
